KOTA KINABALU: Lau Gek Poh Foundation (Hap Seng Group) contributed 70,000 units of fingertip pulse oxymeter worth RM2.1 million to the State COVID- 19 Assesment Centre on Friday.

The contribution was handed by Hap Seng Group Non-Executive Director Datuk Simon Shim to State Health Director Dr Rose Nani Mudin witnessed by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor at Sri Gaya here.

“The State Government appreciates the generous gesture by Hap Seng Group and their continuous support to help in our fight against the pandemic,” said Hajiji.

Hap Seng Group through the Lau Gek Poh Foundation had also contributed RM3.5 million last year to help frontliners in Sabah.

According to Shim, the first batch of the oxymeter is expected to arrive by October.

Meanwhile, Dr Rose said the oxymeter was important in monitoring COVID-19 patients oxygen level but due to the surge in cases, Sabah hospitals have inadequate supply of it.

State Secretary Datuk Seri Panglima Sr Safar Untong was also present.
